A woman identified as Madam Stella has drowned her six-year-old daughter, Rachael, in a fit of rage.

The incident occurred on Monday in the Ukubie community, Southern Ijaw Local Government Area of Bayelsa State/

The act occurred after Rachael disobeyed her mother’s repeated warnings not to bathe in the river. According to eyewitnesses, the young girl had gone to the waterfront, and when her mother found her there, she ordered her to leave. However, Rachael refused to comply.

“Despite repeated warnings to leave the water, Rachael refused, which caused her mother to become enraged,” one eyewitness explained.

In a moment of fury, Stella reportedly grabbed her daughter’s hands and threw her into the river twice, ultimately leading to Rachael’s death. When confronted by concerned community members, Stella admitted to the act, expressing regret over the tragic outcome.

“I regret my actions. I never knew it would happen this way,” she said, pleading for forgiveness from the community.

Family member Jeph Nation expressed deep sorrow over the incident, revealing that he had already experienced two deaths in his family this year.

“All were painful and heart-touching, but this one was so pathetic,” he said.

Disturbing videos circulating on social media show Stella surrounded by a crowd while confessing in the Ijaw language.

Another video captures her sitting beside her daughter’s lifeless body in a boat, as it is transported away.
