Nwachukwu Confidence: Teen CEO of Confidence Glow and Beauty

Can we meet you?
My name is Nwachukwu Confidence.

What business do you do?
I am a professional makeup artist and a beauty educator, the CEO of Confidence Glow and Beauty.

How did you start this business?
I started the business as a young girl, wanting to look good, playing with my mother’s makeup products and applying them.

I was so curious about makeup, and my curiosity led to passion.

I told my parents about my ideas, and they encouraged me and fully invested in the business, when I needed financial support. They saw the potential in me.

What made you go into the business?
I did not go into business because my parents could not provide for me, or because I needed money.

Rather, business has always been in my blood. I have always loved and enjoyed being busy.

My passion for learning, producing and adding value made me to unconsciously begin a business. I also had the desire to make a difference.

What is the aim and vision of your business?
The aim is to ensure that we not only meet, but also exceed our clients’ expectations, no matter what these are. My vision is to become a national and international brand by the year 2025.

Were you trained by a professional or you are self-trained?
The interesting part of my story is that I did not go for training per se. I learnt most of the things I know today by myself; through trial and error.

I basically learnt on the job. And then I went ahead to brush up my skill.

How do you feel as a young CEO?
Well, I really do not feel anything. I don’t know why. Maybe it’s because I am not where I desire to be at this particular stage of my life. I am ambitious and I am learning everyday to become even more responsible.

What problem is your business solving?
I realise that most people in business today, especially my line of business, do not want to push for excellence.

They just want to serve and get paid, but they forget clients desire experience.

With my influence, I have been able to empower young people like me, by volunteering to train for free or almost for free, thereby giving them means of survival.

How do you combine school and business?
It’s really not easy, having to travel back and forth, and keeping tight appointments to make ends meet. But it’s been the grace of God.

How do you see yourself, a company or a young girl with passion for business?
I used to see myself as an innocent young girl with passion, but that hasn’t helped me in any way.

Recently, however, I’m beginning to see myself as a company.

Who are your target clients?
Celebrities, actresses, brides and bridesmaids, movie stars and women generally.

Have you ever made money from your business?
Yes. Once you solve problems, you automatically get paid for it.

Where do you get your motivation from and who are your role models?
I am usually motivated, when I see young people doing great and wonderful works, especially those ahead of me.

It drives me hard to keep pushing and not relent. I have many role models.

Where and how do you get your customers?
By building relationships, I also get clients from my online platform, especially IG @confidenceglowsandbeauty.

However, most clients I worked with are through referrals.

When you see awesome kids or teens doing wonders in their different fields, do you feel motivated to try harder or you feel you are lagging behind?

Sometimes, I feel like I’m lagging behind, but something in me tells me I have got what it takes and I can be greater. Then, I am motivated to keep pushing.

What tools do you use for your business?
I use brushes and cover clothes, among others.

Which ones are you looking forward to purchasing for greater performance?
More brushes, a digital camera, makeup chair, and a ring light.

Were you at any point discouraged, maybe by your parents, siblings or pressure from studies?
Not at all! My parents are the best. They supported me all the way. My studies are not suffering either, though it hasn’t been easy.

Where do you see yourself in five years?
At the forefront of the makeup industry in Africa.

What other things are you skilled at aside the business you do?
I am a comedian.

Any final word to other kids with potentials out there?
Everybody should know they are gifted and are not empty. You have big potentials. Dream big, talk to God and allow Him lead you.

You can never go wrong with Him on your side. Finally, be very strong and courageous.
