The United Bank for Africa (UBA) Plc has confirmed the appointment of Henrietta Ugboh as an Independent Non-Executive Director while an Independent Non-Executive Director, Mrs. Owanari Duke, has retired from the group board.

The relevant regulatory bodies, including the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) have approved Ugboh’s appointment which the UBA Group Chairman, Tony Elumelu, has also lauded.

“Henrietta Ugboh brings a track record of professional success, integrity and leadership, which will further strengthen the UBA Group Board, underlining once again the Group’s commitment to robust corporate governance,” Elumelu said.

Ugboh holds a degree in Economics and Statistics from the University of Benin, and an MBA from ESUT Business School.

Ugboh is vastly experienced, having spent over 30 years in the banking industry with Citibank while she is an Honorary Senior Member of the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria and a Fellow of the Institute of Credit Administration (FICA).

Elumelu said the group looks forward to her invaluable contribution with her new role as independent non-ED, adding that with her considerable experience and expertise, which include commercial banking, credit, and risk management, the UBA board is delighted to welcome Mrs. Ugboh.
