40,000 teachers lament non-promotion by state government
The Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT) Niger State wing, has expressed displeasure with the state government over its inability to implement promotion of members in the state since 2018.
Chairman of NUT in the state, Adamu Yakoyago, accused the government of insensitivity to teachers’ welfare, saying many of them have been stagnated without promotion to the next level, while those promoted have not enjoyed full implementation.
“Our teachers were sometimes this year, paid salary on percentage, which caused not only untold hardship for members but also crippled teaching and learning activities in schools,” Yakoyago said.
He explained that the induction course organised for NUT officials was aimed at letting them have general knowledge of union activities.
He said the course would update members on current leadership styles and procedures towards better working understanding between employees and employers.
