Adamawa boosts livestock sector with inputs for 23,000 farmers

Adamawa State has empowered over 23,000 livestock farmers with machinery and inputs to enhance productivity in one of its key revenue-generating sectors.
Speaking at the official launch in Yola, Governor Ahmadu Fintiri reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to transforming the livestock sector, fostering job creation, and promoting peaceful coexistence between herders and farmers.
Representing the governor, the state’s Chief of Staff, Edgar Amos, reiterated the administration’s support for L-PRES and the National Livestock Transformation Plan.
He also encouraged farmers and herders to embrace peaceful coexistence.
Distributed items included crushing machines, chopper machines, mineral licks, dewormers, molasses, milking cans, and carry-ho machines, among other essential tools.
The initiative is part of the Livestock Productivity and Resilience Support (L-PRES) programme, a six-year project co-implemented with the World Bank. The programme aims to improve livestock productivity, resilience, and commercialisation while addressing crises affecting the sector.
Tijanni Atiku, Commissioner for Livestock and Aquaculture Development, applauded Governor Fintiri’s administration for driving significant reforms and fostering partnerships for sectoral growth.
National Coordinator of L-PRES, Sanusi Abubakar, commended Adamawa for leading among the 20 implementing states in action plans and execution.
Traditional rulers and stakeholders hailed the initiative, while Fulani pastoralist leaders honored Dr. Alfa Sacondee with cultural accolades for his dedication to livestock development.
So far, L-PRES has executed over 100 projects in Adamawa State, solidifying its role as a leader in livestock development and crisis management nationwide.
