The Kaduna Governor, Senator Uba Sani, has laid foundation of a $50m Soya Bean oil refining plant at Kutungare, Igabi Local Council, as part of moves to revive industrialisation in the state.

The governor said refining plant with expected production capacity of 500,000 litres per day would contribute to the economic development of the state and the country by creating thousands of direct and indirect jobs across the production value-chain.

Governor Sani, who was elated by the direct foreign investment brought to the state by Sunagrow International, said it would enable transfer of technology and technical know-how related in the area of soya extraction and refinery processes, thereby, leading to the development of local expertise in the field.

According to him, the establishment of the soya bean extraction and refinery project will enable the addition of value to agricultural products by processing them into higher-value products such as soya oil and meal, thus increasing the income potential for farmers.

Said he: “The Sunagrow’s $50m oil plant will have economic multiplier effect, and create opportunities for local businesses to supply raw materials, services, and support activities to the company. This will in turn improve our local economy.

“Similarly, there will be transfer of technology and technical know-how related to soya extraction and refinery processes, leading to the development of local expertise in the field.

“On behalf of the good people of Kaduna State, I want to thank the management of Sunagrow International Oil Ltd, for sighting such huge investment in our state. I urge the management to equally invest in community development initiatives in areas of education, healthcare, and social welfare programmes, and adopt oil extraction methods that are environmentally friendly.

“I call on other investors to avail themselves of the huge opportunities in Kaduna State, especially in agriculture, renewable energy, infrastructure, mining, manufacturing, transportation, ICT, and tourism. We offer very attractive incentives. We extend not just an invitation, but a steadfast guarantee that their investments in the state will be nurtured by a robust policy framework and unwavering support,” he said.

Earlier, in his welcome address, the Managing Director of the company, Mr Ritesh Argawal, said the company was inspired by Governor Sani’s vision for the economic development of the state.

He said Governor Sani’s proactive efforts in facilitating the necessary approvals and providing the required support were instrumental towards enabling Sunagrow to commence the significant undertaking.

“As we embark on this journey together, we are mindful of the trust and confidence you have placed in us. Be rest assured, we are fully committed to delivering on our promises and upholding the highest standards of excellence in our operations.

“With your continued guidance and support, we are confident that this project will not only succeed but also serve as a testament to the fruitful partnership between Sunagrow International Oil Company Limited and the government of Kaduna State,” Argawal said.
