APCON reiterates commitment to professionalism

The Acting Registrar/Chief Executive Officer of the Advertising Practitioners Council of Nigeria, (APCON) Mrs. Ijedi Iyoha, has reiterated the commitment of the regulatory body to professional practice as it strives to ensure practitioners adhere to the good tenets of advertising.

Iyoha said this at the presentation of the 2019 Industry Evening Best Regulator Award in her office in Lagos.

According to the acting registrar, the Council has been making frantic efforts to ensure that the industry in Nigeria is sanitised. “The 2019 general election could be attributed to that because we have a fairly regulated environment,” she said.

She used the opportunity, to congratulate Mr. Steve Babaeko, Chief Executive Officer of X3M Ideas and Mr. Femi Adelusi, Chief Executive Officer of BrandEye/MediaPlus, who emerged presidents of Association of Advertising Agencies of Nigeria and Media Independent Practitioners Association of Nigeria respectively.

Speaking on the APCON award, a member of the 2019 awards committee panel, Mr. Daniel Obi, said, “History of APCON cannot be complete without the indelible contributions of Mrs. Iyoha whose trajectory in the establishment has been remarkable.”
