In a dazzling display of intellectual fervor and feminine flair, SPILL Lagos 2024, Africa’s largest knowledge party for women, recently, convened on the Capstone Resource Centre in Yaba.

The theme was, “Tech is Female,” resonated profoundly as distinguished female tech leaders shared inspiring stories, ideas, and experiences that shattered barriers and ignited minds.

The venue, transformed into an alluring space tastefully garnished with beauty and order, set the tone for an afternoon of fun, networking, and learning. Women from various walks of life gathered, tastefully dressed, eager to absorb the wisdom and energy emanating from the stage.

The host, Oluwatobi Sola-Abiola, demonstrated exceptional dexterity and professionalism, seamlessly guiding the audience through a rich programme.

A spoken word artiste, Ireoluwa Fadipe, opened the stage with creative genius, weaving her performances throughout the event.

Sesi Aluko’s applause-raising song performances hinted at a voice poised to dominate Africa’s music scene.

Convener, Tomide Olukuade, a He for She enthusiast, writer, actor and media leader, delivered a compelling opening speech. “Womanhood is a technology all by itself,” he declared. “Women have a significant portion to occupy in the tech space to create solutions and innovations for the world.” This sentiment echoed throughout the event.

Topics included “How Funnels and Algorithms Became My Best Friends,” “Girl bossing close to the sun,” “Step into your heels, girl,” and “On the Heels of Roaming.” Their testimonies sparked a sense of limitless possibility among attendees.

Upon arrival, guests stepped onto the expansive black carpet, where Nancy Olive Tamuno, the inimitable red carpet host, welcomed them with warmth and charm. The event culminated in the awarding of certificates and presentation of gifts to speakers by the convener.

Mrs. Adejoke Olukuade delivered a heartfelt vote of thanks, encapsulating the essence of SPILL (Speaking Intelligently, Ladies Lead), a pan-African speaking platform founded in 2017. With events in Lagos, Abuja, and Accra, SPILL aims to mainstream women’s voices, promoting social equilibrium.

As SPILL expands across Africa and beyond, its impact will undoubtedly be felt. SPILL LAGOS 2024 may have come and gone, but its legacy, a testament to the power of women in technology, will endure.
