“Do this if you were denied Canadian visa”: Adodo Eddy Osaman speaks
Adodo Eddy Osaman, a notable Nigerian in Canada who helps Africans on best travel opportunities and advise, recently spoke with The Guardian Newspapers. In our interview with Osaman, He spoke on how Canada has evolved in its’s immigration opportunities and what Nigerians must do if their visa is ever refused. He said:
“Has your Canadian application been denied in the past – be it for visit, studies or any other route? It’s not the end of the world. Don’t run away and don’t be in a hurry to apply again. There’s something you need to fix.
Usually when you are denied any form of visa, you receive a letter from Immigrations Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC). This letter is usually generic and may not reveal the actual reason for your denial. If you don’t clarify and fix the reason for your denial, a re-submission may be a waste of time and your chances of obtaining a positive decision may be extremely small.
For all forms of denials, you need to apply for an ATIP note (Access to Information and Privacy) An ATIP note is a detailed note written in your application by any Canadian visa officer who reviews your case. If you are living outside of Canada, you would need someone legally resident in Canada to apply for this note on your behalf. It costs around $5CAD for this application.
The first step in your application is to download IMM5744 form from IRCC website. This form allows you to authorize someone in Canada to apply for an ATIP note on your behalf. Fill this form with your information and that of the authorized individual. Include your visa application number, your unique client identification (UCI), all found on your rejection letter. Scan and send these documents to your representative in Canada, who will then apply on your behalf and send you the ATIP note upon processing. Processing takes around 30days. Expect delays within this pandemic.
For permanent residency applicants, you can apply for a GCMS note (Global Case Management System). GCMS is a system used by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) to process immigration and citizenship applications. GCMS notes are considered to be the only option for applicants to get the most accurate and exhaustive view of their IRCC file.
I recommend apply for a GCMS note after 1 month of your Application for Permanent Residency (APR). An APR is done after you have been selected in your Provincial or Federal immigration draw. An APR is not when you create and submit a Provincial or Express Entry profile.
For those who have sent in their Application for Permanent Residency (APR) and things have appeared redundant for a while, ordering a GCMS notes could give your application a nudge’. GCMS notes costs from $40 to $60CAD.”
