An edtech company, Gradely, has awarded scholarship to about 400 students nationwide with a view to equipping them with coding skills to enhance their learning outcomes.

The initiative, which is in partnership with a Japanese company, Sprix Inc Limited, also included the unveiling of gamified mobile app, ‘Qureo’ to provide personalised learning through animated contents that boost students’ interest to learn challenging subjects.

The Chief Executive Officer, Boye Oshinaga, identified coding as an essential digital skill that children between ages eight and 13 must learn to be productive and relevant in today’s global economy.

Oshinaga explained why platforms like Gradely should be adopted by parents and students, saying it offers mastery learning, which allows one-on-one attention to help average students.

Besides, he announced plans by the company to impact 10 million children by 2035, and reach one million students by 2026 through the tailored lessons that adapt to each student’s learning style and progress, ensuring comprehensive support and engagement.

He said: “Specifically, we focus on outcome-based learning, using technology, personalisation, and gamification. The methodology used in Gradely ensured that after exposure to about 20 hours of our modules, it improves academic outcome. It also shows in competency, literacy, mathematics and sciences.”

Oshinaga added that the app will teach the children how to code by engaging them in actual games, and helping them to recreate these games where they can learn other skills, boost their creativity and prepare them for future careers in technology.

The Manager, global division at Sprix Inc limited, Hiroki Watanabe, said the app combines advanced technology, gamification and expert tutors to create an unbeatable learning experience for users.

According to him, “Gradely is not just an educational tool; it is a game-changing app on a rescue mission for the learning struggles of the Nigerian child by combining the latest technology with personalised tutoring, and a gamified learning experience.”
