The presiding Archbishop of Dominion Chapel International Churches, Archbishop John Praise Daniel, on Sunday, tackled the federal government over the hike in tuition fees across the country.

The cleric argued that the continued increase of educational fees would further burden vulnerable Nigerian students and families, already struggling to make ends meet

Daniel, disclosed this in Abuja, at a matriculation and honorary doctorate conferment ceremony organized by Vine University America in Nigeria.

Daniel, who also serves as the national deputy president of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN) and chairman of the Northern Coalition and chairman of the Northern Coalition of Bishops and Apostles (NOCOBA), emphasized the importance of education to Nigerians, especially the youths.

The cleric was also conferment with the honorary doctor of divinity, and urged both parents and the government to prioritize and ensure that education is available and accessible to all Nigerian children.

He said: “I believe that the government should invest more in education, particularly by making nursery, primary, and secondary education free for all Nigerian children. This would lay a solid educational foundation for them. While the early stages of education can be challenging, the benefits are significant.

“The government should facilitate access to these educational benefits for our children. Many parents are currently unable to cover even basic costs such as transportation and tuition fees. Alleviating this burden would be greatly appreciated.

“I am also pleased that the government has introduced student loans, and I hope these loans become widely accessible to those seeking to advance their education.”

In his address, the Chancellor of Vine University America, Rev. Dr. Bola Arowolo, highlighted the importance of educating and mentoring the current generation.

He stressed that this is crucial for the ongoing spread of the gospel and adherence to the true knowledge and doctrine of the Bible.

Arowolo also noted that the university, established through what he described as ‘God’s divine wisdom’, aims to build its foundation on biblical principles to cultivate a new generation of servants dedicated to fulfilling their divine commission.

He said: “The goal is to foster worshippers who will teach and lead in worship globally, ensuring that the praise of God fills the earth as the waters cover the sea.”

The event also featured the conferment of honorary Doctorates of Divinity and Sacred Music.

The recipients, recognized for their dedication and perseverance in ministry, were commended for their unwavering commitment despite the challenges they faced in spreading the gospel nationally and internationally.
