Impersonation: Unilorin alumni seeks probe of ex-president
The Executive Committee (EXCO) of the University of Ilorin Alumni Association has warned the public against dealing with its ousted former president, Dr. Wale Fashakin accused of still claiming to be the President of the Association three years after removal.
The group in a statement by its publicity secretary, Olorunsuwa Elijah Ola, on Sunday explained that Fasakin’s tenure “came to an abrupt end in 2021 through a resolution of Congress due to gross abuse of office, high handedness, and betrayer of the association’s trust and constitution.”
It stated that a Caretaker Committee was for three years in the saddle of the group’s activities till August 24, 2024, when election was held to usher in another EXCO.
Consequently, it has invited the Police and the Department of State Security Service to invite Fasakin for questioning “as his action is capable of causing a breach of the University of Ilorin’s peace.”
The statement alleged that Fasakin has at many fora claimed the office of its national president.
The group said: “the impersonation is a shameful and unacceptable act.
This behavior undermines the integrity of the association and brings discredit to the esteemed reputation of the institution.”
Notably, the association recalled Fasakin’s recent visit to the Controller General of the Nigerian Immigration Service, Mrs. Kemi Nanna Nandap and his purported inauguration of the Board of Trustee for the Association.
“We srongly condemn this impersonation and alert all stakeholders and wish to bring to the awareness of the public of Dr. Fashakin’s nefarious and disgraceful acts and those of his cohorts,” it added.
It urged the public We against dealing with Fasakin “on behalf of the Unilorin Alumni Association.”
