The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has cautioned candidates against night registration for this year’s Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) because of risks involved.

The board said it has particularly noticed worrisome trend of nocturnal registration of prospective candidates by certain centres, urging them to exercise caution and restraint.

The body’s spokesperson, Dr Fabian Benjamin, in a statement, said while JAMB appreciates the enthusiasm of these centres to accommodate as many candidates as possible, this should never come at the cost of the their personal safety and security.

“In the light of this, JAMB provides clarity and issues a stern warning to the centres and others that may consider engaging in similar practices, to immediately cease forthwith.

The board added that it was sounding a final warning to the centres involved, as no further notices will be issued before the examination body takes decisive action to address the issue.

“JAMB will not tolerate any violation of the regulations governing the registration process, and will take appropriate measures against any centre engaged in questionable or exploitative practices during the exercise.

To address pressing issues, the body announced the introduction of the ticketing platform, where candidates and their guardians can seek clarification before airing grievances publicly.
