PROPRIETOR/CEO of Blooming Greens School, Yaba, Mrs. Susan Babatunde, has appealed to the government and individuals to prioritise art education by equipping schools and establishing specialised art institutions.

This was disclosed at the school’s yearly art show, themed “Create It and Care,” where diverse art forms were featured with each having a unique meaning and story. The yearly exhibition showcased over 400 student-created artworks, with proceeds going to charity.

Mrs. Babatunde emphasised the importance of art in fostering creativity, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills essential for economic development.

She said: “Art shows creativity and people’s intention, the mind of an artist is deep because what they are conceiving and what they bring out, an ordinary onlooker may not understand. Art is very good for every school to imbibe; I encourage children to get into it.”

Babatunde noted that art can generate income and promote cultural exchange, citing examples of Nigerian artwork showcased internationally. “Some of our students’ works are even in Britain,” she said.

By investing in art education, Mrs. Babatunde stressed that the government and individuals can empower the next generation of creatives and change-makers.
