Gov Yusuf Pledges to support Education, Entrepreneurship of 73 Kano minors charged for treason
Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf has re-commissioned Bamalli Nuhu Maternity Hospital after extensive renovations and equipped with the state of the art facility. The Governor’s commitment to refurbishing the old maternity was born out of his administration’s bold step to reduce new born and maternal death in Kano.
Unveiling the new edifice on Thursday, Governor Yusuf expressed satisfaction that the upgraded facility was intended to improve the health population of residents.
He recalled that Nuhu Bamali hospital was left in deteriorated condition with poor equipments and acute shortage of human capacity as at the time he took over the administration, adding that the renovation and reinvigoration of the facility at Nuhu Bamali and Asiya Bayero Paediatric hospitals are deliberate attempt to restore public trust in public health.
He therefore urged stakeholders to own and take responsibility of ensure proper management and protect of the newly installed equipment and keep the facility clean.
Yusuf who reassured the people of the state that his administration will not relent in delivery of quality healthcare service as major priority attention is being devoted to the sector, used the occasion to announce that contracts for the renovation of all General Hospitals across the State have been awarded to benefit all citizens.
Meanwhile, Governor Yusuf has pledged to support the education pursuit and entrepreneur skills of the 73 minors arrested and detained by the police for alleged involvement in the August #EndBadGovernance protest in Kano.
The children who were initially charged for treason felony were subsequently discharged by the court after public outcry. Upon their discharge, Governor Yusuf alongside team of senior lawyers including the famous human rights lawyer, Chief Femi Falana (SAN) personally received the children and brought them back to Kano in a chartered flight.
The detainees who left the police custody emaciated and malnourished were first admitted for medical evaluation under the state government health facility. While receiving the children, Governor Yusuf regretted the ugly incident that led them into the 3 months detention.
He pledged government readiness to support their education pursuit and assist those undertaking entrepreneurship to restart their means of livelihood. The governor commended the timely intervention of President Bola Ahmad Tinubu that eventually safe the innocent children from incarceration.
