Two Greensprings graduates, Oluwatobi Somorin and David Ekenta-Ifeanyi, were recently honoured at the yearly Outstanding Cambridge Learner Awards organised by the British Council, to celebrate best-performing students and innovative schools.

While Somorin won Top in Country in Mathematics (without coursework), Ekenta-Ifeanyi won Top in Country in Physical Education in the 2023 International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) examination.

However, the major highlight of the night was when Somorin was announced the overall best across eight IGCSE subjects in Nigeria for the Year 2023.

This year’s win made it the seventh consecutive year that Greensprings students would receive Top in Country awards in various subjects, such as Mathematics, English, Physics, Biology, Global Perspectives, Literature, French, and Drama, among others.

Commending the students, the school’s Deputy Director of Education, Mrs Feyisara Ojugo, said the accomplishment highlighted the school’s commitment to academic excellence and dedication of teachers.

“We want to say big congratulations to our extraordinary students and well done to their teachers for their role in this feat, and to sincerely thank parents and everyone who contributed to their success,” Ojugo added.

The Cambridge IGCSE is an international examination taken by students between ages 14 and 16. The examination is administered at the final secondary school year of various International schools in Nigeria, with the British Council and Cambridge Assessment International Education as administrators.
