So, we were engaged again and Tunji had suggested the most ridiculous thing in the world! A secret wedding! I knew the one thing that would infuriate his mother more than our renewed engagement, was us robbing her of the opportunity to give her first son the wedding of the year.

“A secret wedding will make your mother hate me more”. I declared.
Tunji laughed out loud

“And your father would hate me for not allowing him walk his only daughter down the aisle”. He added.

“We just need to give them time and hope they come around eventually”. I said.
Tunji looked at me as though I had sprouted another head.

“I am not waiting to marry you anymore! If we had just had a normal quiet wedding none of the drama would have happened! I am not taking any chances again. We get married, and then we tell them. If they still want a grand wedding then they can go ahead and plan one but at least, I would know nothing can come between us again”. Tunji said.

“Ok. I’m game”. I said with a smile on my face. “So am I still supposed to get on my flight”?

“Yes but I am coming with you, and we are coming back married”. He said.

“How about work”? I asked

“I don’t care”. Tunji responded.

“How about your parents”? I asked.

“They will be fine”. Tunji responded.

I took a deep breath and asked the most difficult question of all.

“How about Alicia”?

“I’ll take care of it”. Tunji responded and with that he was gone.

I had a sinking feeling in the pit of my stomach that our renewed love would be short-lived. It was like déjà vu all over again.
