Meg Alabi the CEO of Alabi Couture, a fashion brand based in Surulere, Lagos, has always had a flair for the craft. Born and raised in Lagos, she graduated from Delta State University with a degree in Mass Communication. However, it was her modeling career in the late ’90s that introduced her to the world of fashion.

She began her modeling journey working with various brands in Lagos, Ghana, Togo, New York, and the UK. Her exposure to different styles, cultures, and trends during these travels nurtured her love for fashion. She admits that her entry into the industry happened unexpectedly.

“I’ve always been fashion-inclined, but my love for fashion truly grew over time. I actually stumbled into it,” she revealed. According to Meg, her journey into fashion began with a photoshoot arranged by her aunt, Sefinatu Mohammed. “My aunt owned a shop at Federal Palace. One day, she asked me to join a photoshoot, and that moment sparked my interest in fashion,” she recalled.

From that day, Meg’s passion for fashion took root, and she hasn’t looked back. Her experiences on the runway gave her a deep understanding of fashion and style, which she now channels into her business. Today, Alabi Couture is known for its bespoke outfits and dedication to quality service.

She takes pride in the unique qualities that set her brand apart. “What makes Alabi Couture stand out is our dedication to time, timeless designs, and attention to detail. We provide quality service and ensure our clients get value for their money,” she said.

The fashion designer emphasized that her brand caters to a diverse range of clients. She believes that understanding her clients’ preferences and personalities is essential to creating outfits that make them feel confident and stylish.

“We are not restricted to any type of client. Our brand cuts across all kinds of clients,” she explained. “Before making outfits, I consider the color of the fabric and how it complements the client’s skin tone. I also study their personality based on the type of clothes they usually wear. Our fashion statement is all about comfort and style.”

Her passion for fashion extends beyond designing. She is committed to inspiring upcoming designers to pursue their dreams. She believes that a successful fashion career requires more than talent; it requires dedication, continuous learning, and faith.

Her advice to aspiring designers is to focus on their craft and never stop learning. “Have a genuine love for the craft, stay focused, and update yourself with new fashion trends. Attend trainings and workshops, put God first, and never give up on your dreams,” she advised.

Meg Alabi’s journey from a runway model to a successful fashion entrepreneur is a testament to her resilience and creativity. Her story continues to inspire both her clients and the next generation of designers, proving that passion, hard work, and faith can turn dreams into reality.
