‘Global impact empowerment hub to help individuals realise their potential’
Peace Anyira Okugo is a passionate advocate for empowerment and community support. She is the founder of the Global Impact Empowerment Hub, a platform dedicated to helping individuals unlock their potential through mentorship, guidance, and community support. Her mission is to empower people to transform their lives and inspire change in their communities. As the co-founder of “Girls Time Out,” Peace provides a safe haven for women to collaborate, uplift one another, and pursue their dreams. Known as the “Mother of Nations,” her work extends to training, coaching, and mentorship programs that foster personal and professional growth. In this interview with Esther Ijewere, she shares her story.
Inspiration behind “Girls Time Out”
The inspiration for “Girls Time Out” came from the need to create a safe, supportive space where women could truly connect, unwind, recharge and focus on their wellbeing. Too often, we prioritize everyone else and neglect ourselves. I created this community to remind women that self-care isn’t selfish but essential. It’s a place for women to share experiences, support one another, and grow together in personal life, family, relationships, career, and business. At its core, Girls Time Out is about fostering a network where women uplift each other in every aspect of life.
Global Impact Empowerment Hub
Global Impact Empowerment Hub was born from my desire to help individuals unlock their potential. I saw so many talented people lacking the tools, resources, and support to achieve their goals. I wanted to create a space where they could access mentorship, get guidance, and be part of a community that believes in them. My goal is to empower people to transform their lives and inspire change in their communities. Seeing individuals thrive and paying it forward keeps me motivated.
Empowering Women Through my Book Club
My book club isn’t just about discussing books—it’s a space for learning, growth, and mutual support. Each book introduces new perspectives, sparking conversations about resilience, leadership, and shared experiences. The space encourages women to share their voices, whether boldly or quietly and fosters confidence, understanding, and a sense of belonging. It’s not just about the stories we read but the connections we build. Beyond the pages, we leave every meeting inspired to tackle challenges, advocate for change, and uplift others. Empowerment isn’t just a theme for our book club—it’s a lifestyle. Our book club empowers women by fostering education, building a supportive community, and encouraging self-expression. It promotes leadership skills, inspires action through stories of resilience, and broadens horizons by exploring diverse perspectives.
A Memorable Success Story from My Mentorship Program
One story that stands out involves a young woman who initially doubted her abilities. Together, we worked on identifying her strengths, setting clear goals, and breaking them into manageable steps. Over time, she gained confidence, embraced her potential, and eventually landed a leadership role she once thought was out of reach. What made it even more special was seeing her mentor others in her new role, completing the circle of empowerment. Her transformation reminded me why mentorship is so important—not just guiding someone to success but equipping them to inspire others along the way.
Passion for Community Support and Collaboration
I’ve always believed in the power of people coming together to create meaningful change. Community support is about lifting each other up—whether by offering help, sharing knowledge, or simply showing up for one another. Collaboration goes beyond working toward common goals; it’s about valuing diverse perspectives and celebrating our shared humanity. Watching how small acts of kindness and encouragement can ripple outward drives me to keep building connections and fostering collective growth.
Maintaining Balance While Pursuing Empowerment
Maintaining balance has been a journey. I’ve learned the importance of self-care and setting boundaries. I remind myself that I can’t pour from an empty cup, so I prioritize rest, reflection, and activities that recharge me such as spending time with family, reading books, cooking, and relaxing. I also focus on pacing myself, knowing that meaningful change takes time. Collaboration plays a big role—I surround myself with people who share my vision, which lightens the load and keeps me grounded. Staying connected to my purpose helps me balance everything with clarity and intention.
Challenges Faced as an Advocate
One major challenge has been overcoming resistance to change, whether from individuals hesitant to step out of their comfort zones or from deeply entrenched systems. I’ve learned that listening and building trust are crucial for creating understanding and sparking change. Self-doubt has also been a challenge. At times, I’ve questioned whether my efforts made a difference. Leaning on my community and focusing on small victories helped me stay motivated. Every hurdle has taught me resilience and strengthened my commitment to making a difference.
Advice for Young Women Looking to Make a Difference
To the young women out there who dream of creating change in their communities: Start where you are with what you have. You don’t need to have all the answers or wait for the perfect moment—small actions can lead to big change. Believe in your voice and stay true to your purpose, even if others doubt your vision. Surround yourself with people who uplift you, and remember that change happens step by step. Trust yourself, trust the process, take that first step, and know that you’re capable of creating extraordinary impact.
Why they call me “Mother of Nations”
The moniker “Mother of Nations” is deeply personal to me. It symbolizes my commitment to nurturing, guiding, and empowering others. It reflects my faith journey and the lessons I’ve learned in challenging times, particularly during my fertility (waiting) journey and testimonies. To me, it’s about pouring love and wisdom into people, helping them reach their full potential, and creating a legacy of positive change that touches entire communities. It’s an honor and a responsibility I hold close to my heart.
Being “Woman of Rubies”
Being a Woman of Rubies is about strength, resilience, and compassion. Perseverance is one of my defining qualities—I’ve embraced challenges as opportunities for growth. Empathy is another cornerstone of who I am, as I strive to create spaces where people feel valued and supported. Above all, I live with purpose, driven by a desire to leave the world better than I found it. To me, being a Woman of Rubies means recognizing your inner strength and using it to uplift others.
My Inspiration
The woman who inspires me the most was my mother (Late Mrs. Patricia Anumundochukwu Anyira). She taught me the value of resilience, kindness, and unwavering support. Her wisdom and strength have shaped my approach to leadership and empathy. She showed me that true power lies in lifting others up and creating a positive impact, even in difficult times.
