The Ikoyi Club 1938 Ladies’ Open is set to hold the 49th edition, a three-day gross tournament stated for November 13 -15, 2024.
With the theme, A taste of Nigeria’, the Royal and Ancient Golf Club of St Andrews (R&A) event will engage the players with handicaps of 0 – 28 play in a strokeplay format while players with handicap of 29-36 will play in a stableford format which will allow them manage then timing of their play and prevent slow play on the course.

Then, 0 -28 handicapped players and specific guests who will play in strokeplay format, where each player tee off at assigned tee boxes. However, the grand finale will feature lady finalists based on their scores over the previous days. They will also compete on the strokeplay format, alongside Ikoyi Club 1938 male golf players.
The Ladies sub-committee led by Mrs. Fatumata Coker have vowed to bring the Open to a globally acclaimed status that will evoke more regard for the game of Golf. Amidst these, the game seeks to promote the positive nature of the country, specifically to international guests that enhances the tourism potential of Nigeria. According to the theme of the event, it is set to appreciate the culture and the people of Nigeria by diving into unique food, clothing and style of the various ethnic groups in Nigeria.
Past winners of this Open include Irene Nakalembe, at the 44th, 45th and 46th editions, Gloria Mbaguta, at the 47th; Evelyn Oyome, at the 48th edition and the 25th IBB Ladies’ Open 2024. The impact of this tournament, therefore, cannot be underestimated as it has created a platform through which Lady Golf players have brought out their competitive spirit and promote the game of Chivalry, fitness and sound fellowship.
Coker added that sponsorships are received from almost all the sectors of the economy as Delta Airlines will sponsor the first prize, a business class ticket to the U.S.A. The second, an experience at Marrakech, Morocco and the third prize, an experience at the Lakowe Golf and country Estate.
