Determined to cushion the effect of Nigeria’s economic pains and hardship on the citizens, an international philanthropic foundation, Uzodinma Paul Nwoga Foundation (UPN), has given gifts to residents in Ekwereazu Ahiazu Mbaise Local Council of Imo State.

Speaking during the event held at St. Patrick’s Primary and Secondary School, Umuokirika, during its graduation ceremony of the pupils and the students, the United States based-founder and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the foundation, Chief Paul Uzodinma Nwoga, said he was moved by the glorious attributes of his late father to help humanity, hence replicating and propagating the work of his father in the area he cherished the most when he was alive.

Fondly known by his traditional title (Obimba I of Umuokirika), Nwoga said his late father, Prof. D. I. Nwoga, was the first to introduce African Studies at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka.

Represented by Cynthia Nwoga, he recalled feeding over 4,000 indigents in the area during his Feeding The Poor exercise, which spanned days, about three months ago, at his ancestral home, in Ekwereazu Ahiazu Mbaise.

Nwoga gave a free education programme to pupils from the institution who completed their current stages, including cash gifts to all who successfully graduated, and other economic empowerment programmes to the people of the community and beyond.

He commended the head teacher, Sr. Mary Noela Anele, and the officials for the sound upbringing of the graduates.

He also appreciated them with over N1.800 million in cash and other material items.

The foundation, he disclosed, is anchored on community empowerment, advancing knowledge and improving lives, executing programmes on arts and crafts, design fairs, food banks for widows and orphans, etc.

Contributing, the Director of Schools, Catholic Diocese of Ahiara, Dr Julian Nwachukwu; monarch of Umuokirika ancient kingdom, Eze Pius Iwu; chairman of the event, Onuoha Odinakachi, among others extolled Nwoga for his philanthropic gestures in the area.
