ICSAN seeks stakeholders’ support, begins construction of new secretariat

The Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators of Nigeria (ICSAN) has solicited the support of stakeholders in actualising its dream as it begins the construction of a new national secretariat in Lagos.

President and Chairman of Council, ICSAN, Funmi Ekundayo, at the sod-turning ceremony, said that kind gestures in whatever form towards the successful completion of the all-important project would be welcomed.

She stated that the construction of the modest four-story building, with modern and state-of-the-art facilities was a dream come through, especially, as the institute has been nurturing the idea of erecting a befitting national secretariat for many decades, with the various propositions on the issues of scale the national secretariat should have over the years.

According to her, since then, economic realities and pragmatism have swayed the institute’s discretion to a more modest proposition.

She said while the institute has a giant profile as a leading voice on corporate governance in Nigeria and has made a noticeable impact through diverse contributions as evidenced in recurrent guidance to both the private and public sectors of the economy, however, its financial strength is minimal.

“Our main source of revenue is members’ subscriptions and incomes from training, and paid programmes. The bulk of these revenues is routinely channeled into operational costs and funding of myriads of activities necessitated by mission actualisation exigencies.

“Now, we have decided to take the bull by the horns and start with whatever resources we can muster, hoping to succeed by all legitimate means and by the help of God,” she said.

The contractor handling the project, Fortuna Construction Company Limited, said the building would comprise three segments of administration, commercial and academic purposes
