I’ll sack non-performing commissioners, Diri warns

Forbes recognises gov’s investment in education, infrastructure

Governor of Bayelsa State, Douye Diri, has warned that he would not hesitate to wield the big stick on any commissioner that underperforms.

Diri also implored members of the newly constituted cabinet to key into his administration’s vision of providing service to people of the state.

The governor gave the admonition, yesterday, during the 130th session of the state executive council in the Government House, Yenagoa.

The governor, who stated that his administration’s policies and programmes are having a positive impact on people of the state, urged the new cabinet members to make service to the state a priority.

He said that he was delighted and encouraged that the people appreciated the developmental projects as attested by accolades from Bayelsans.

He particularly mentioned the ongoing construction of the Nembe-Brass Road, the completed Sagbama-Ekeremor Road, building and equipping of science, technical and vocational schools, among other projects and policies in different sectors across the state.

IN another development, Diri has received the Forbes Best of Africa Outstanding Leadership Award for the year 2024 in an event that was held at the Intercontinental Hotel Lisbon, Portugal.

Since assumption of office, the Governor has not only stated his commitment to the holistic development of Bayelsa State but also the teeming young population.

Diri has committed massive investment in infrastructure, opening up communities that were, hitherto, inaccessible to the state capital and other parts of Nigeria.

His innovative basic education transformation programme, BayelsaPRIME, has also ensured the democratisation of quality basic education to over 40,000 primary school children who would, hitherto, not have had access to quality education.
