NBA Epe commends Dangote for petrol, diesel price reductions
The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Epe Branch, has applauded the management of Dangote Refinery for its recent reduction in the prices of petrol and diesel, describing it as a significant step toward alleviating the economic burdens faced by Nigerians.
In a statement signed by its Chairman, Dr. S.O. Jimoh, the NBA Epe Branch, which oversees Epe and Ibeju-Lekki, the home of the Dangote Refinery, acknowledged that while the refinery operates as a private enterprise with the primary objective of generating shareholder returns, its role goes beyond conventional business operations.
Dr. Jimoh emphasised that the products of a refinery are critical to daily life, significantly impacting the well-being of citizens and influencing the broader economy and value chains across multiple sectors. He described the refinery’s price reductions as a commendable demonstration of corporate responsibility and empathy for the economic challenges Nigerians are currently experiencing.
The NBA Epe Branch also praised Alhaji Aliko Dangote, President of the Dangote Group, for his visionary leadership, stating:
“Alhaji Aliko Dangote’s actions reflect the commitment he made to the National Officers of the NBA during their visit to the refinery last year, ahead of the Association’s Annual General Conference (AGC), to make petroleum product prices competitive. This initiative showcases his dedication to societal well-being alongside business success.”
The association expressed confidence that the Dangote Refinery’s gesture has influenced the Nigerian National Petroleum Company’s (NNPC) recent review of petrol pump prices.
While appreciating the current price reductions, Dr. Jimoh expressed optimism that further cuts would follow as the refinery’s operations stabilise and the economic environment becomes more favorable. The NBA Epe Branch called for continued innovation and collaboration among stakeholders to ensure Nigerians fully benefit from the refinery’s world-class capabilities.
Reaffirming its support for initiatives that prioritise citizens’ welfare and contribute to the nation’s sustainable development, the NBA Epe Branch encouraged efforts that foster a more inclusive and economically stable society.
