OCF announces plans for summer school program in 2025
The 2025 Summer School Program by OCF will focus on equipping children from low-income backgrounds with both practical and digital skills. The program includes Home Economics classes to teach essential life skills such as cooking and basic home management, Fine Arts sessions to foster creativity and artistic expression among the children and lastly Digital Literacy training to introduce practical ICT skills, enabling children to adapt to an increasingly digital world.
Most of the children considered for this summer school program are those who have been out of school due to various constraints, such as financial challenges, family circumstances, or lack of access to education. The program is designed to provide a supportive environment where these children can catch up on their learning and regain academic confidence.
In addition to the core curriculum subjects, the program includes other impactful courses and activities aimed at bridging the gaps in their academic year. These could range from life skills and creative arts to STEM-focused lessons, ensuring the children receive a well-rounded educational experience. The ultimate goal is to prepare them for a smoother transition back into formal schooling and to reignite their passion for learning.
OCF Founder, Faith Morey establishes that by incorporating these components, the program will provide children with learning opportunities beyond the traditional classroom, preparing them for future academic and personal success.
To ensure the success and sustainability of its summer school program, the Okachi Charity Foundation has implemented key strategies, including recruiting dedicated volunteers as educators and mentors, building partnerships with government institutions and local organizations for technical and financial support, establishing monitoring and evaluation frameworks to track progress and address challenges, and fostering community engagement to encourage ownership and long-term impact.
Through these efforts, OCF aims to create a replicable and sustainable model that can be expanded to other project states, reaching more children in underserved communities.
