Thrve Partners has made a bold move to inspire and uplift the boys at the Nigerian Correctional Centre in Oregun, Lagos. As part of their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative, Thrve brought a message of hope, practical support, and the transformative power of purpose.

This annual outreach serves as a reminder that even in the most challenging circumstances, there is always room for growth, change, and opportunity.

The day began with a meeting with the Principal of the Correctional Centre, whose deep commitment to the well-being of the boys was evident in everything he shared. He emphasized the importance of consistent mentorship and guidance, noting, “You can’t assume they know, you have to repeat things often.”

His words struck a chord, underscoring the significance of patience and repetition in helping young minds realize their potential.

For Miriam from Thrve Partners, the visit carried personal meaning. She spoke about the organisation’s commitment to creating a better society, understanding that for many of these boys, the centre had become a surrogate family. The message of the day was clear: the correctional facility offered more than just a place of reform—it gave the boys a sense of community and structure they may never have experienced otherwise.

The heart of the visit was an interactive classroom session, where the boys eagerly gathered to listen to two speakers from Thrve Partners. Taiwo opened the session with a talk titled “That Which is in You,” where he encouraged the boys to recognise the unique talents and potential within themselves. His words resonated deeply as he urged them to look beyond their current circumstances and embrace the future with hope.

Miriam followed with a more practical discussion on purpose. She helped the boys reflect on their lives and identify areas that could lead to discovering their true passions. She empowered them with the tools to not only envision a brighter future but also take concrete steps toward making it a reality. Her session left them feeling motivated and confident in their ability to shape their destinies.

After the motivational session, Thrve Partners distributed welfare packages to the boys. These packages, carefully packed in Thrve Community Outreach tote bags, included essentials like boys’ underwear, snacks, and other items, along with a TV set to enhance their recreational and educational experiences.

The smiles on the boys’ faces reflected the significance of the gesture, reminding them that they were valued and seen.

The Principal, visibly moved by the visit, shared stories of former residents who had gone on to achieve success in life, thanks to the ongoing support and mentorship provided by the centre. His words reaffirmed the importance of sustained guidance and encouragement in helping these boys reach their full potential.

Thrve Partners’ visit to the Nigerian Correctional Centre was more than just an outreach—it was a testament to the power of community support and mentorship. Through thoughtful acts of kindness and motivational guidance. By offering both inspiration and practical support, Thrve continues to work toward a better society—one visit, one life, and one step at a time.
