President Bola Tinubu has commended the administration of the Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo for its transformative impact in the education sector.

The President gave the commendation when the governor joined him in celebrating the Eid Mubarak in Aso Rock, Abuja, an event that marked the end of the Ramadan fasting period.

Tinubu, while speaking on the occasion, said the administration of Okpebholo has made giant strides in the sector since assuming office.

The President said: “In a time when the future of our children determines the progress of our great state and nation, Sen. Monday Okpebholo has risen as a beacon of hope and transformation in the Education sector of Edo State. I am satisfied with the reports of the impact the administration is making in the education and other sectors.

“I proudly watched Okpebholo almost walking barefooted around the schools, a testament to his hands-on approach in ensuring that Edo educational system would be second to none,” the President is quoted as saying.

Since assuming office, the unwavering dedication of the administration and the visionary supervision of Commissioner for Education, Paddy Emmanuel Iyamu, has set new standards of excellence in Edo schools.

From the construction of new classroom,to renovation of completely dilapidated buildings, to the employment of teachers, to the introduction of technology, increase in subvention to schools, to the induction of students who have been neglected for four years, to the provision of free school books, and the remarkable initiative of partnering with NELFUND to eliminate school fees burden in universities until after two years of graduation and more, Sen. Okpebholo has redefined governance with a heart for the people with his Commissioner, Dr. Paddy Iyamu, who understands and implements his assignments.

The Governor’s commitment extends beyond basic education, ensuring that students in both secondary and even tertiary institutions receive the necessary support to excel and build a brighter future for themselves and Edo State in general.

Since Okpebholo came into office, the education sector has received a big boost, with Iyamu, who initially served as the Executive Chairman of the State Universal Basic Education Board, SUBEB, making waves in the Board before he was deployed as the Commissioner for Education and the trend of achievements has continued.
