Lagos assures residents of transparency in home allocations

Lagos State Government has assured residents of the state-owned housing estates of transparency and openness in allocation of homes. The state’s Commissioner for Housing, Moruf Akinderu-Fatai, gave the assurance during a stakeholders’ forum organised for residents of Lagos State Government Housing Estates, LagosHomes, in Ikorodu Division.

Akinderu-Fatai said that the forum was organised to enlighten the residents on the workings of the state government and also direct them to approach the facility manager in case of any complaint or observation on issues that concern their estate.

The commissioner, who was represented at the event by the Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Abdulhafis Toriola, stressed the need for residents to comply with all guidelines as stated in their letter of allocation. He also advised residents to pay their yearly service charge, sinking fund, special levy and insurance premium promptly as and when due in accordance to the Deed of Memorandum of Understanding signed by both parties, saying that failure to comply will lead to revocation of the home unit allocation.

Akinderu-Fatai added that the crucial goal of Governor BabajideSanwo-Olu’s administration was to develop the estate with proper infrastructure, comparable to modern cities and habitable for residents. He, therefore, re-affirmed the state government’s dedication to providing affordable, safeand comfortable housing for all.
