Ja Morant Suspended Again By Memphis Grizzlies
Memphis Grizzlies star Ja Morant has been suspended indefinitely by the team following the release of a second video on social media in which he appears to flash a gun.
The video, which was posted on Instagram Live on Sunday, shows Morant holding a handgun in his lap while sitting in a car. The video has since been deleted.
This is the second time in six months that Morant has been caught on camera with a gun. In March, he was suspended for eight games by the NBA after he was seen holding a gun during an Instagram Live video inside a Denver nightclub.
The Grizzlies announced the indefinite suspension in a statement on Monday morning. In the media release, the team said that they were “aware of the social media video involving Ja Morant” and that “He is suspended from all team activities pending League review.”
Morant has apologized for his actions. Ja Morant stated “I know I’ve disappointed a lot of people who have supported me. This is a journey and I recognize there is much work to do. My words may not mean much right now, but I take full accountability for my actions. I’m committed to continuing to work on myself.”
The suspension is a major setback for Morant and the Grizzlies. Morant is a rising star in the NBA and is expected to be a key part of the Grizzlies’ future.
