Kanye West’s 2020 Campaign Committee Speaks Out On Fraud
Kanye West’s 2020 presidential campaign committee has alleged that they were defrauded of thousands of dollars.
These claims were contained in a letter sent to the Federal Election Commission on Tuesday and obtained by TMZ.
According to the news outlet, the letter disclosed that the committee had conducted an investigation and found that someone accessed their account three times between December and February 2021.
Efforts to recover the money from the First Bank of Wyoming, where the funds were presumably held, had proved abortive.
The letter also reveals that the investigation found that the stolen funds totalling $3,999 were used to pay off an unnamed individual’s credit card.
TMZ reports that the FEC first flagged the fraudulent activity, and while no arrests have been made, Ye’s former committee is working with the FEC to gather more information.
Kanye is, however, yet to comment on the issue.
In July 2020, Kanye ‘Ye’ West had announced his intention to run for president under the newly formed “Birthday Party.”
Ye also took out an ad paid for by the Kanye 2020 campaign in the New York Times in the days leading up to the election. The open letter titled “Dear Future” envisioned what he (Ye) saw as the future of America.
In November 2020, after failing to get enough votes, Ye conceded the election.
He tweeted, “WELP.”
“KANYE 2024.”
