Skit Maker Trinity Guy Sent To Prison For Sexual Abuse
In response to allegations that he sexually exploited a 10-year-old girl, a family court in Iyaganku, Ibadan, on Monday ordered the detention of skit creator Maruf Abdullahi, also known as Trinity Guy, in the Agodi prison.
Along with the creator of the skit, the court also charged Isiaka Ahmed, 40, and his wife Rofiat, 29, who are the victim’s parents, on two counts of conspiracy and sexual abuse and exploitation.
The case file had been submitted and duplicated at the Oyo State Ministry of Justice, according to the Magistrate, Mrs. P.O. Adetuyibi, who rejected the defendants’ argument that there was no jurisdiction.
The three defendants were remanded by Adetuyibi in Agodi Correctional Facility in Ibadan until July 11, when the case will be mentioned in court.
Mr. Oludare Adebayo, the defense attorney, asserted that Section 41 gave the court the authority to hear the case. The victim was a product of poverty, according to Adebayo.
The magistrate acknowledged that the case file had been duplicated but noted that she couldn’t hear the case until the ministry of justice agreed to drop it.
Earlier, Insp. Oluwakemi Arowosaye, the prosecution’s attorney, had informed the court that the three criminals had planned to sexually abuse the girl jointly.
Arowosaye said that on December 17, 2022, “Trinity” sexually abused and exploited the girl in the Kuolaa neighborhood of Ibadan.
“Abdullahi was asking the victim the colour of his penis, recording the scene and posting it on social media,” she said.
She claims that the offenses violate Section 35 (1) of the Oyo State Child Rights Law, 2006 and are penalized in accordance with Section 35 (2).
Arowosaye claimed that Section 516 of the Oyo State Criminal Code Laws from 2000 was also violated by the offenses.
The Child Rights Law of 2006 stipulates that the sketch creator faces a 15-year prison sentence if he is proven guilty of the crime.
