I’m a madman undergoing treatment at Aro Psychiatric Hospital, says Portable

Controversial Nigerian singer Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, has claimed he is undergoing psychiatric treatment at the Federal Neuropsychiatric Hospital, Aro, Abeokuta.

Portable made the revelation on Tuesday while appealing to Nigerians and the Ogun State Government after being declared wanted by the state police command.

The singer was accused of assaulting three officials of the Ogun State Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development, Ota Zonal Office—TPL Onabanjo Abidemi, TPL Raymond Lateef, and TPL Ridwan Oyero Akinlesi—who were on an enforcement assignment at Oke-Osa, Tigbo Ilu, Ota.

According to reports, the town planners met Portable’s father at Odogwu Bar, allegedly owned by the singer. After identifying themselves and requesting the building’s approved plan, they were informed that Portable was unavailable.

Shortly after, the singer reportedly led a gang of nine armed men to attack the officials, leaving them with injuries before they managed to escape and report the incident to the police.

Police authorities confirmed that nine of the assailants had been arrested, but Portable fled and has since gone into hiding.

Reacting on Instagram, Portable claimed he was being targeted for political reasons, alleging he was set up because he wore a vest featuring the face of Senator Adeola Solomon, popularly known as Yayi.

He also insisted he was under psychiatric care, saying, “I fear government. I am a federal government liability. Then I’m a madman; I have medications that I usually take. You can confirm from Aro Hospital. I have a card that certifies me as one of their patients.

“I am from Abeokuta, and they are taking care of me there. I am not a thief; I help people around me without even looking at their background.”

As of the time of this report, Portable remains wanted by the police.
