The Chairman and Chief Executive Officer (CEO), of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Brigadier General (retired ), Mohammed Marwa, has said that the agency will introduce the use of body cameras for operational officers to ensure their safety and protect the integrity of operations.
He made this known during the 8th Chairman and CEO Commands Awards and Commendation in Abuja.
Marwa said 52 officers and 16 commands will be honoured in this batch of the awards, newly promoted officers to the rank of ACGs will be decorated and a one-day capacity training will be held for all commanders tomorrow before they head back to their commands.
“We will also be deploying body cameras for the use of our officers in strategic operations for the purpose of ensuring their safety and the integrity of such operations,” Marwa said.
“To further enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of our operations, we have created five strategic commands in Lagos, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Murtala Muhammad International Airport (MMIA), Lagos, Apapa and Tin Can Ports.”
He said the management of the agency is working to ensure all that is necessary to ensure the safety of officers and boost performance.

The chairman said the recent promotion of 5, 042 officers is a testament to the commitment of the management to prompt and timely promotion of officers.
“Since we inaugurated the commands awards and Commendation, our performance at each ceremony often superseded the previous one and the reward for work well done is more work,” Marwa said.
“We cannot rest on our oars untill our mandate is fully achieved. Our performance continuously justify our conviction in offensive action, War Against Drug Abuse (WADA), and other reforms because the bottom line is a drug-free Nigeria.”
He said the agency is closely following up on the amendment of THE NDLEA Act by the National Assembly because it will strengthen and change the dynamics of the work of the agency for the attainment of extraordinary results.
