Sixteen-year-old Colette Nwachukwu is appealing for financial assistance to undergo surgery after being diagnosed with advanced chronic kidney disease at the Gbagada General Hospital, Lagos.

The teenager, who was initially admitted to the hospital for fever, was diagnosed with the condition following a series of tests that confirmed the disease’s severity.

Since her diagnosis, Colette has been undergoing dialysis twice weekly at N150,000 per session and attending regular nephrology clinic follow-ups. She has so far had 19 dialysis sessions, amounting to millions of naira, leaving her family in dire financial straits. Her single mother, Rhoda Nwachukwu, is now seeking public support to save her daughter’s life, saying she has exhausted all her resources.

“Since my daughter was diagnosed, we have been living from hand to mouth,” she lamented. “I want to use this opportunity to call on every Nigerian to come to her aid in this difficult time. I am relying on God and the goodwill of people because my 20 years salary cannot cover the N22 million needed for the transplant.”

She described Colette as an intelligent girl with dreams of becoming a medical doctor. “I do not want her talent to be wasted,” she said. Colette can be reached at 08023966819 or via FCMB Account Number 1028191249, with Account Name Nwachukwu Colette Oghenekome.
