2027: ‘Leaders with demonstrable achievements will secure electorate confidence’

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu

Following the victory of Accord party in Osun Governorship election, a group Ndigbo for Tinubu 2027 (NDI-ABAT) on Monday noted that Osun Governorship election won by Accord party have shaped the future of Nigerian politics adding that only leaders with demonstrable achievements will secure the confidence of the electorate in 2027.

In a statement in Abakaliki the National Coordinator Ndigbo for Tinubu 2027 (NDI-ABAT) Mazi Okechukwu Isiguzoro urged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to draw critical lessons from the outcome of the Osun State Governorship Election and strengthen his 2027 re-election strategy noting that Mr. President is all round measurable achiever, credible performers and leaders with proven records of service.

He noted that the Osun election by the Independent National Electoral has once again demonstrated a fundamental shift in Nigeria’s democratic landscape noting that the fear of the people that next year general election will be rig has been nailed to the wall.

According him Nigerian electorate is becoming increasingly conscious, demanding accountability, visible development and leadership that directly improves the lives of citizens adding that the era when elections could be determined solely by political structures, financial inducements or party influence is gradually giving way to a new reality where performance and public confidence remain the strongest electoral assets.

NDI-ABAT believed that the Osun election outcome serves as a significant warning signal to all political actors, including the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), that electoral victory in 2027 will depend largely on achievements that citizens can see, feel and appreciate.

The organisation stated that political parties and leaders must recognise that Nigerians are carefully assessing those who have delivered genuine democratic dividends and those who have relied mainly on promises without corresponding results.

According to Ndigbo for NDI-ABAT the performance of the APC structure in Osun State should encourage deeper reflection within the party, particularly on the need to strengthen grassroots engagement, reward competence and promote leaders whose records can independently inspire voter confidence.

The organisation therefore advises President Tinubu not to depend exclusively on political assurances from party structures but to build a stronger national campaign around high-performing individuals whose achievements represent the practical success stories of his administration.

Isiguzoro specifically recognized the remarkable efforts of the Minister of Works, Senator Dave Umahi, whose commitment to the rehabilitation and reconstruction of critical federal highways has created a significant impact across the Southeast region.

The organisation maintained that the ongoing transformation of federal roads in the Southeast represents one of the most visible federal interventions in the region in decades, providing renewed economic opportunities, improving connectivity and addressing long-standing infrastructural challenges.

They noted that these projects have strengthened the confidence of many Nigerians, particularly within the Southeast, that the Federal Government is paying attention to their developmental needs.

The organisation insisted that Ndigbo will continue to support leadership defined by results, responsibility and commitment rather than political statements without evidence of delivery.

Ndigbo for Tinubu 2027 NDI-ABAT
further expressed concern over the limited public advocacy by several Southeast political leaders regarding the developmental achievements of the Tinubu administration in the region.

The organisation notes that Senator Dave Umahi has consistently been one of the most vocal Southeastern voices, highlighting and defending the administration’s infrastructure agenda, particularly in the areas of road construction and rehabilitation.

“Political leadership is measured by courage, consistency and visible contributions to society. Leaders who wish to influence the future must demonstrate clear records of service and commitment to the people” the statement stated.

“NDI-ABAT sends a direct message to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu: the strongest pathway to success in 2027 is not merely through party structures, but through achievements that Nigerians can identify with and leaders whose performance commands genuine public support”.

“The Osun election has shown that Nigerian voters are becoming more independent, more informed and more determined to reward competence. Any political strategy that ignores this reality does so at its own risk”.

Ndigbo for Tinubu 2027 NDI-ABAT urges the President to continue prioritising infrastructure development, economic growth, inclusive governance and the empowerment of credible performers who can communicate the administration’s achievements effectively across the country.
