22-year- old man stabs mother to death in Bayelsa

A 22-year-old man, identified as Godwin from the Elebele community of Ogbia Local Council of Bayelsa has allegedly stabbed his mother to death following a failed attempt to use her for ritual purposes.
The suspect, according to sources, came back to the community a few weeks ago after months of sojourn in a neighbouring state at popular Yahoo boys training camp, referred to as HK.
Some claimed that a pastor in Elebele had forewarned the deceased mother of the impending danger and urged her to reject any strange gift from the son.
Others claimed that the killer-son returned to the community with strange behaviour and kept away from his childhood friends, making claims that one “Baba” had warned him that his destiny and wealth is held back by his deceased mother.
Confirming the development, the Youth President of the Elebele Community, Comrade Precious Okala, told newsmen that his attention was drawn to the incident at about 6:00 p.m., on the fateful day and on arrival at the scene, “we saw the bloodied corpse of the deceased woman and his son that had been tied by the youths of the community.”
“We were told that since the boy came back from this particular state, he has been behaving in a strange manner.
“On the fateful day, he was reported to have had a struggle with the mother and stabbed her with a knife in the stomach.
“The boy was heard saying that one “Baba” had told him that the mother is in possession of his destiny and wealth,” he said. Another youth from the Elebele community, who pleaded anonymity, told The Guardian that the boy exhibited strange behaviours since he returned, including distancing himself from childhood friends and cooking for the mother which the deceased refused to eat.
Meanwhile, the suspect has been handed over to the police at the Kolo Division of the Bayelsa State Police Command. Spokesperson for the State Police Command, Musa Mohammed, said the case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for detailed action.
