Seven bag first class degrees as Glorious Vision University holds 8th convocation

Vice Chancellor, Glorious Vision University (GVU) Ogwa in Edo state, Prof. Babatunde Idowu on Tuesday disclosed that the institution has since inception graduated a total of 789 students, with 101 graduands in the 2022 academic session, out of which 7 students would be graduating with First Class Degrees at her 8th convocation ceremony.

Glorious Vision University (GVU) is owned by the Apostolic Church Nigeria, LAWNA Territory.

Speaking on activities to herald the Glorious Vision University (GVU) 8th Convocation ceremonies in Ogwa Edo state, Idowu said the University formerly Samuel Adegboyega University (SAU) was registered on March 7, 2011, as the 45th private University and 117 overall in the Nigerian University system.

He said the institution would be graduating 101 students at its 8th convocation ceremony with seven (7) graduating with First Class honours, Thirty –three (33) with Second Class (Upper Division), forty – Six (46) with Second Class (Lower Division), seven (7) with 3rd Class and Four (4) Postgraduate.

According to the VC, The National Universities Commission (NUC) in 2021 announced Glorious Vision University among the top 48 universities in Nigeria and among the best 23 private universities in the country.

Idowu said the University has since inception produced six sets of graduates with a total number of 670 undergraduates, 8 postgraduates and 9 Honorary Doctoral Certificates.

He added that in the 2022 academic session only, ” we are producing 101 with seven (7) graduating with First Class honours, thirty –Three (33) with Second Class (Upper Division), forty – Six (46) with Second Class (Lower Division), seven (7) with 3rd Class and Four (4) Postgraduate.

The vice chancellor noted that, “One of the uniqueness of the 2022 graduating class is the set of twins from the Olude family, both graduating today with First Class Honour. Taiwo Abigail Olude emerges the best graduating student from Economics Department and Kehinde Mary Olude also emerges the second best student from the Department of Chemical Sciences.”

Reeling out the institution’s success records under his watch, the vice chancellor said the University’s Ranking by the National Universities Commission (NUC) toward the end of 2021, released in terms of the ranking of Nigerian Universities, placed the institution as having scored 94.52 among the Universities with the highest score, emerging no 48 in the overall Nigerian Universities and 23 among the Private Universities.

“Among the 13 indicators that were analysed which included Universities with Full Accreditation, percentage of programmes, knowledge economy, among the private Universities in the South-South, our University came first,” Idowu said.
