Adeboye admonishes leaders to make humility their watchword
The General Overseer of The Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has advised the country’s leaders in every sphere of endeavour to make humility their watchword in order not to fall from grace to grass.
Speaking at the Oyo State 2015 Christmas Carol and Thanksgiving
Service, held at the Agodi Gardens, Ibadan, he said many leaders had fallen from the ladder of success due to lack of humility.
In the same vein, the state Governor, Senator Abiola Ajimobi, expressed the optimism that Nigeria would experience divine visitation in 2016 and triumph over its current economic challenges and unrest in the Northern part.
The occasion witnessed an assemblage of eminent personalities, clerics, politicians and Christian faithful and choristers from different churches, who all expressed appreciation to God through singing and dancing for witnessing this year’s Carol service.
Quoting copiously from the Scriptures, adeboye cited the example of the biblical Samson, whom he said was forsaken by God due to his disobedience to the divine directions and lack of humility and thus fell into the hands of his enemies.
He stressed the need for all mortals to be closer to their Creator, live a holy life, and submit themselves to His will so as to succeed in their divinely ordained-assignments here on earth.
According to Pastor Adeboye, anybody whom God was against or was neutral concerning his life and affairs could never witness any breakthrough in whatever he dabbles into.
Ajimobi assured the people of Oyo State that the state would be better placed in terms of socio-economic development in the coming years, stressing that with divine intervention and economic re-engineering, Oyo would overcome its current challenges.
He said, “What I want to say is that God will make us. He will continue to be with us and make Oyo a state Emmanuel. When God is with someone, such a person will always be victorious over his enemies.
“This is what He has done for us in Oyo State and that is why we have been moving from one victory to another and triumphing over the enemies of the state.’’
