Adeleke orders arrest as youths raze Monarch’s palace in Osun
The Governor of Osun State, Ademola Adeleke, has warned against acts of lawlessness after the palace of the Ajeniji of Hallelujah was razed and the monarch Oba Jelili Olaiya attacked.
The attack happened in reaction to the installation of an Imam by the monarch.
Photos from the scene of the incident showed damaged plastic chairs littering the floor.
In a statement signed by his aide, Olawale Rasheed, Adeleke ordered security operatives to fish out the perpetrators, just as he frowned at the resort to self-help by some elements within the Ido Osun community.
The governor also directed the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Dosu Babatunde, to commence immediate peace-building and conflict de-escalation in collaboration with the security agencies.
He urged aggrieved communities to approach relevant government agencies to table such for conflict resolution.
