African Military Games: Nigeria top table with 15 medals
The Nigerian Armed Forces have achieved an impressive haul of 15 medals on the first day of the wrestling competition at the ongoing 2024 African Military Games in Abuja, taking place at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium Abuja.
The team secured five gold medals in women’s wrestling, six silver medals in men’s Greco-Roman wrestling, and four bronze medals in men’s Greco-Roman wrestling.
Additionally, Nigeria clinched two gold medals in handball, defeating Ghana in the finals of both the men’s and women’s events.
In men’s football, Nigeria faced a narrow 1-0 loss to Cameroon, while Algeria defeated Equatorial Guinea 2-0 in another match.
In the men’s taekwondo competition: The first fight between Senegal and Libya saw Senegal emerge victorious.
The second fight between Cameroon and Nigeria ended with a win for Cameroon.
Tunisia defeated Senegal in the third fight, while Algeria triumphed over Senegal in the fourth fight.
In women’s taekwondo, Nigeria’s Rejoice claimed the gold medal via a walkover.
