Army captures Dorathy Jonathan’s murderer in Southern Kaduna
The Nigerian Army announced on Thursday that its troops had captured the murderer of Dorathy Jonathan in Southern Kaduna, Kaduna State.
Jonathan was murdered on Friday, September 1, while fetching firewood in Afana village, Zango Kataf Local Government Area.
The army said the arrest was made in line with the Commander of Operation Safe Haven (OPSH), Major General AE Abubakar, commitment to bringing all perpetrators of crime in Southern Kaduna to justice.
The suspect, Lot Dauda, confessed to committing the crime with an accomplice who is still at large. He was arrested after a manhunt by troops of OPSH, who acted on credible intelligence.
Dauda told investigators that he approached Jonathan while she was working on a farm and tried to force himself on her. When she resisted, he killed her.
The army said efforts are ongoing to arrest the other accomplice and that Dauda will be charged in court once the investigation is complete.
