Bauchi governor flags off construction of two roads at N8.1billion
Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, has flagged off reconstruction of the 22km Darazo–Gabchiyari road at N2.6billion.
Mohammed while speaking in Darazo local government area of the state during the official flag off commended the people of the Gabchiyari community for being patient with his administration over the years that the road was neglected.
He lauded his predecessor, Mohammad Abubakar for starting the road.
He said that his administration had earlier spent N800 million to complete the road but discovered that the procurement was poorly done, adding that he ordered a re-award of the contract.
“Because of the engineering advice, it was discovered that the corridor followed a stream and could not be viable, so we considered the N800 million as a waste because proper procurement had not been done and that is why we are doing it again.”
Also, the Governor flagged the dualisation of 7km AD Rufai College of Legal Studies to Government Science Secondary in Misau town road in Misau local council at the sum of N5.622,320,889.
Mohammed said that he had forgiven some people in the Council for not unanimously voting for him during the 2023 governorship election. He added whether they supported him or not, he has the responsibility to better their lives.
