CFAN, World Bank conduct census of cooperative societies
The Cooperative Financing Agency of Nigeria (CFAN) and the World Bank say they will conduct a national census of savings and credit cooperative societies to help policymakers in decision making.
Mr. Emmanuel Atama, the Executive Secretary of CFAN, said this in a statement in Abuja on Monday.
Atama said that the census was in preparation for the United National Year of Cooperatives in 2025.
He said that the census information would aid the growth and development of financial cooperatives in the country.

He said the census, scheduled to hold between Oct. 15 and Oct. 31 would capture cooperatives that were into savings and credit services.
According to him, the purpose is to ascertain the size, strength and weaknesses and opportunities, as well as to position the cooperatives for the right patronage.
He called on cooperatives to participate through a data capturing link to be provided by the agency.
