The Clerk to the National Assembly (CNA), Mr. Kamoru Ogunlana, has advocated for a comprehensive review of the National Assembly Service Act and other essential legislative frameworks to bolster staff welfare and enhance the overall efficiency of the parliamentary bureaucracy.

During his inaugural meeting with senior members of the National Assembly bureaucracy in Abuja, Mr. Ogunlana stressed the importance of recognising staff welfare as central to boosting productivity and maintaining institutional effectiveness.

In a statement issued by the Director of Information, Mr. Bullah Audu Bi-Allah, the CNA reaffirmed his commitment to continue the infrastructural initiatives of his predecessor and also tackle critical security concerns within the National Assembly.

He stressed the need for a proactive approach to building a stronger and more resilient National Assembly that can meet the demands of modern governance.

Mr. Ogunlana expressed his appreciation for the contributions of the management team, acknowledging their role in ensuring the continued efficiency of the institution.

He also underscored the need for collaborative efforts in advancing the institution’s goals.

He described the Nigerian National Assembly as the largest, busiest, and most dynamic parliament in Africa, with a responsibility to uphold the ideals of professionalism, accountability, and service.

“The future of our institution depends on our collective will to drive progress. We must continue to work together with dedication, ensuring that the Nigerian National Assembly remains a model of excellence and accountability,” Mr. Ogunlana stated.

His call for reforms, focusing on staff welfare, legislative efficiency, and security, has set the stage for a more responsive and effective National Assembly, better equipped to meet the challenges of modern governance.
