Consistent cultural exchange programme, strengthens unity in diversity — Minister
The Honourable Minister of Art, Culture, Tourism and the Creative Economy, Barr Hannatu Musa Musawa, has reiterated her ministry commitment to the implementation of consistent cultural exchange programs.
According to her, these initiatives aim to promote and preserve Nigeria’s rich cultural heritage, as evident in the numerous vibrant festivals and cultural events that take place across the country.
Hannatu said that a vibrant cultural exchange not only promotes national cohesion but also enriches the creative economy by showcasing the richness of our collective heritage.
The minister who was represented by the Head of the Department of Culture Industries and Heritage, Rev. Canon Dr. Anamah N’ben-Ugo made this known yesterday at the 2024 Annual Irewha Hunting and Cultural Festival held in Shafa-Abakpa Toto local government community, Nasarawa State.
She commended the Irewha Hunting and Cultural Festival for its vibrant demonstration of the power of cultural heritage in uniting, propelling and fostering unity.
She stated: “I also applaud the community for their unwavering support in preserving and promoting their cultural heritage. Our cultural heritage is the foundation upon which our identity is built. It is the thread that weaves our past, present, and future together. Let us continue to cherish, promote, and preserve our traditions, customs, and values for the benefit of generations to come.”
The national President of Shafa Abakpa Town, Usman Adams, stressed the significance of the Irewha Hunting Festival as a time-honoured tradition that has played a crucial role in fostering unity among the residents of Shafa Abakpa.
He expressed his gratitude to the minister for her unwavering dedication to promoting cultural festivals, which not only celebrate the community’s rich heritage but also strengthen social bonds and encourage local pride.
Adams noted how the festival serves as a platform for showcasing the unique customs, hunting expertise, industriousness and values of the town, bringing together individuals of all ages and backgrounds in a shared celebration of their identity.
