The trial of former Lagos State Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Olasupo Shasore (SAN), over alleged money laundering of $200,000 corrupt offers before a Lagos Special Offences Court sitting in Ikeja has suffered a setback, owing to controversy in the proof of service.

At the resumed hearing, yesterday, the defence counsel, Dr. Muiz Banire (SAN), told the court that the prosecutor was yet to oblige them with the documents they requested for at the last adjourned date.

Banire submitted that the defence would need the documents to challenge the jurisdiction of the court to entertain the charges against the defendant.

But in his response, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) counsel, Bala Sanga, told the court that the prosecution had served the defence with the requested document.

The presiding judge, Justice Mojisola Dada, said that the proof of service was not in the court file and ordered the prosecutor to file an affidavit of service.

She adjourned the matter to June 20, 2023, for trial.
