The Edo State chapter of the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE) has commended the union’s national leadership, President-General Akeem Ambali, for advocating for local government financial autonomy.

The chapter, led by Clifford Dauda, said Ambali displayed exceptional leadership by uniting stakeholders across the country.

Edo NULGE, in a statement, advised the President-General not to relent on financial autonomy until implementation begins.

The chapter also acknowledged the significant progress NULGE made under his guidance, while assuring him of their continuous loyalty and support for his vision of a stronger, more united NULGE.

In October, NULGE vowed legal action against the Governor of Anambra State, Charles Soludo, and any other seeking to introduce bills that will tamper with the financial autonomy of local governments.

The union also called the attention of President Bola Tinubu and Attorney-General of the Federation, Lateef Fagbemi, to the situation.
