Edo recovers 30 government vehicles from ex-officials
The Edo State Vehicle Recovery Committee has successfully recovered 30 government-owned vehicles from former officials of the previous administration.
The committee’s chairman, Kelly Okungbowa, revealed that the vehicles were retrieved following valuable information provided by whistleblowers, a statement by Fred Itua, Chief Press Secretary to Governor Monday Okpebholo, said on Monday.
Among the recovered vehicles are four vehicles seized from the residence of a former high-ranking official.
“We have recovered two Land Cruiser Jeeps and two Toyota Hilux vehicles from a former high-ranking official of the immediate past government. One of the vehicles contained campaign posters and umbrellas. Another Hilux vehicle was also recovered, bringing the total number of vehicles retrieved since our operation began to 30,” Okungbowa stated.
The committee has set a two-week deadline to complete its task and has appealed to the public to continue providing information that could aid in further recoveries.
Okungbowa expressed gratitude to the whistleblowers and assured the public that the committee will continue its efforts to recover all stolen government property. He urged citizens to come forward with any information that could aid the recovery process.
Okungbowa emphasized the committee’s commitment to recovering all government assets and ensuring they are returned to the state. He noted that the committee is prepared to pursue these vehicles nationwide.
