Ex-agitators urge National Assembly to pass NDDC 2020 budget
The Peace and Cultural Initiative (LPCDI) has urged the National Assembly to pass the Niger Delta Development Commission’s (NDDC) 2020 budget to facilitate economic development of the region and enable the Sole Administrator, Effiong Akwa, deliver on his mandate.
The group said more jobs needed to be awarded and contractors paid, stressing that without the passage of the 2020 budget, nothing meaningful could be achieved.
Its National Secretary, Nature Dumalekieghe, stated this yesterday while reading a statement signed by 21 of its member, including the president, Reuben Wilson, and spokesman, Opia Joshua, after their meeting in Port Harcourt.
Calling on President Muhammadu Buhari to prevail on relevant bodies to pay the over N1tr owed NDDC to facilitate the development of the region, they noted that the amount when released, was capable of changing the Niger Delta Region to the Dubai of Nigeria.
