Ex-Anambra deputy speaker, Oseke, collapses, dies during exercise
Former Deputy Speaker of the Anambra State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Harford Oseke, has passed away after collapsing during an exercise session.
Oseke collapsed on Monday while engaging in his regular exercise routine at Alex Ekwueme Square in Awka, the state capital.
Despite efforts to revive him, he was pronounced dead shortly after; his remains were subsequently taken to Apex Medical Centre in Awka.
Born in August 1960 in Umuawulu, Awka South Local Government Area, Oseke was a scholar who studied law and recently completed a Ph.D. in Public Administration.
In addition to his academic achievements, he was a key figure in the freight forwarding industry in Port Harcourt and was involved in the importation of fishing feeds into Nigeria.
Oseke’s political career was marked by his close affiliation with the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA). During Peter Obi’s tenure as governor, Oseke won a seat in the Anambra State House of Assembly, where he served as Majority Leader before becoming Deputy Speaker.
